Our

PASTORS

Senior Pastor

Pastor Gary gave his life to Christ on November 17, 1980. After two years, he began a Bible study in a friend's living room and God began to use him to bring many friends and people to salvation. He knew God was calling him to ministry but he was chasing a pro golf career and for a time, he ran from God's calling. Eventually Pastor Gary gave in, and has been in ministry ever since. After pastoring in a pioneer work in Oakland for four years, Pastor Gary was asked to take over Faith Fellowship church in San Leandro, in September 1993. Faith Fellowship at one time was a church of 550 people, but by 1993 when Pastor Gary arrived, it was down to just 65 people. God began His work through Pastor Gary and a new team of leaders, and today the average attendance is close to 2000! To God be the glory!

Pastor Gary has a B.A. in pastoral studies from Patten University and Day Spring College. He has also taught Bible college courses at Jubilee Bible College, Golden Gate School of Theology and Patten University.
He is frequently invited to speak at men's conferences, where he is a part of the team of speakers for R3 Men's Ministry, (a national men's movement), and marriage and youth conferences. He also hosts his own Be a Man and Beauty of a Woman conferences. He has been on KTLN television for over 10 years and now has a daily radio program on KFAX, the largest Christian radio station on the West Coast.

Pastor Gary has over 24 years experience as a Senior Pastor. During this time he has ministered to multitudes of people and has been used by God to see many lives transformed and renewed. Many have been healed through the laying on of hands, marriages have been restored, and thousands have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Pastor Gary’s passion is to teach the Word of God, to minister to people in the name of Jesus Christ and to glorify God in all he does.

Pastor Gary was saved while pursuing a pro golf career. After trying for the P.G.A. tour, he knew that God was calling him to preach His Word. “One of the most enjoyable things about pastoring this church is the blessing of seeing people from every walk of life and ethnicity come to Christ and call Faith Fellowship their home.”

Pastor Gary has three children: Michael,  Jonathan, and Liana.  Pastor Gary's first book Be A Man has been used around the country to help instruct men to be leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. This book gives valuable insights, helping men to become better husbands, fathers, and friends, and has sold thousands of copies. Santa Rita prison ordered over 600 copies for their inmates, and it became one of the most sought after books used by the men. Also, Chuck Colson’s Prison Fellowship Ministry featured his book in their magazine Inside Journal, which reaches almost every prison nation-wide.

Pastor Jack Hayford, former President of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, Pastor of Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California, and author of over 60 books has now signed his endorsement on the back of the book. Pastor Gary is available for Be A Man seminars, which have been taught around the country and have transformed lives for the glory of God. In addition, he now has written four more books entitled The Beauty of A Woman, Let's Get the Gay Thing Straight, Ask the Pastor and his latest book, The Token Charismatic which is about the gifts of the Holy Spirit in today's church.

“Many people come by to visit our church and end up calling it their home. You’ll have to come and experience it for yourself.  When you do, come up and shake my hand. I look forward to meeting you.”                                          Pastor Gary

In June of 1998, I joined the staff of Faith Fellowship Pastors after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy. At that time, I was also a Licensed Minister and Pastor in the Church of God denomination. My experience in the Foursquare denomination actually began in 1984, when my family and I were stationed at the Naval Hospital in Oakland. We then joined the church and always kept a special place in our hearts for this ministry, because God did so much in us during our stay in Oakland. It was also at that time that Pastor Gary, our present senior pastor and I became the closest of friends and were youth pastors together. In July of 1988, my family and I were transferred to Atsugi, Japan, where for three years we had the awesome opportunity to minister to many Japanese converts.

God has truly been good to me.  He has given me a jewel and her name is Debra.  For over 30 years, she has been by my side through every challenge, as well as every victory.  We are the proud parents of our only son Lance, who is really a joy to us. Lance is a college graduate and has become quite a gentleman.

We are presently enjoying a wonderful time of ministry here and hope that we are in some way a blessing to everyone who attends our services. God bless you and thank you.

I like to say that I was a drug baby, my mom and dad drug me to church! I really didn't like going to church, I'd much rather be out in the streets like the rest of my brothers.  The LIFESTYLE I preferred was the street life, I guess you can say I love the thrill of it. The excitement of never knowing what to expect and the adrenaline rush of, "will I even make it through the day." Yet in all that excitement, my life started spiraling down. Hanging out late in the street with friends, and with people I didn't know, taking drugs, selling drugs, gangs, alcohol, music, sex, robbery and arson which all resulted to felony charges.

While still living life thinking there is no God and if there was one, he doesn't come to to my neighborhood. Born in Manhattan, New York, raised in the Bronx through the age of eight, and now living in Brookfield, East Oakland, California where they don't know what "turn the other cheek" is or to love your enemy.  Jesus must've never came to my neighborhood.

One night in Antioch, California I was set up to be murdered while looking down the barrel of a gun down on both knees with my hands up, the two gunmen threatened to kill me and took all the money that didn't belong to me. I was the middleman, I was giving the money to make the exchange. Where I'm from, we don't really show too much fear even if you are scared. I looked up towards the sky and I started to blame The Lord saying , "Jesus why would you do this to me?" And it seemed like the Lord paused everything and he answered me with His word.  A scripture my mother and father had shared with me from the Bible, the Lord said, " There is a path that looks right to a man but it leads to death." (Proverbs 14:12). When I heard the Lord say those words to me I immediately said the name Jesus. At that moment the pause button was pushed to play and the man pointing the gun to my face said "Don't say that name!" So I said the name again,  "Jesus!" The gunman let me go. They put me in my car and I drove off confused, but yet knowing what just happened. Now I became scared because the money that was given to me to get the drugs was not mine so now I have to tell the man (who doesn't believe in God) who gave me the money, that I was robbed and that I survived only because I said the name of Jesus.

When I arrive without money or drugs I thought my life had come to an end, but then the miraculous happened! I sat down across from the angry man and I told him everything that happened.  The wide eyed man stood up,  pointed at me and said you know I believe you! You have always been a loyal guy then he said, "Look you don't owe me anything but don't let me catch you hustling in the streets ever again." With tears filling my eyes, I could not believe what just happened! I turned around thinking that I would get shot in the back. I opened the door walk to my car, shut the car door and right there with no pastor, no altar call, with tears running down my face I repented. I asked for forgiveness, and accepted the Lord Jesus into my heart. I was forever changed.

A week later I was baptized in the Holy Spirit . That was 12 years ago this July. Ever since, God has been using the talents, gifts and abilities he created me with to use on platforms he's provided to give him glory. Rap, Poetry and break dancing all for building His Kingdom, not my own.

Fuego is a name I go by, but it was given to me by the Lord. Jeremiah 20:9 says, “But if I say I’ll never mention the LORD or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it!”. My passion is for this young generation, reaching the unreachable and loving the unlovable.

The Pursuit Youth is a junior high and high school ministry who's foundation is Jesus Christ alone, moving together like Voltron in one mind and in one Spirit.  Philippians 2:3 says, “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.”

Gone are the days of saying, "Do as I say, not as I do".  It's time that us as Christians rise up and lead by example.
